Atomos has released the v10.68 firmware update for the Atomos Ninja V+ monitor recorder. The update now allows you to record 8K ProRes RAW in the Ninja V+ from the HDMI signal coming out of the Canon EOS R5. Of course, you also have to install the latest Canon EOS R5 v1.4.0 firmware, too, also just released today (according to Atomos) or yesterday (according to Canon on Windows) or last week (according to Canon for Mac users). Regardless of the when, the Atomos update for the Ninja V+ only seems to add the 8K and 5K ProRes RAW video functionality for the EOS R5, although the new EOS R5 firmware update also makes a few other changes, too, including simultaneous video recording to two cards simultaneously.
As well as adding 8K 30fps 10-Bit RAW output over HDMI, the v1.4.0 firmware update for the Canon EOS R5 also adds support for movie recording the CN-E18-80mm T4.4 L IS KAS S and CN-E70-200mm T4.4L IS KAS S EF cinema lenses – although there are some caveats. You also get simultaneous movie recording to both card 1 and 2 simultaneously – again, there are caveats. The complete list of changes looks like this…
The 10.68 AtomOS update for the Atomos Ninja V+, however, literally only does one thing. It just adds the ability to record 8K and 5K ProRes RAW from the EOS R5, as evidenced by the changes (change?) list below. Again, there are a few caveats with the new 8K and 5K raw video capabilities, and your EOS R5 needs to be set up a certain way, but Atomos has provided release notes for the patch telling you exactly how to set up your camera and what the capabilities are. But, the short version is that you can shoot 8K (8224 x 4336) footage at 23.98, 24, 25 or 29.97 frames per second and 5K (5088 x 2680) footage at 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 50 or 59.95 frames per second.

Both devices will need to have their firmware updated to the latest versions to be able to shoot 8K RAW video (or 5K RAW video) to the Ninja V. You can download the v1.4.0 EOS R5 update here and the AtomOS 10.68 update for the Ninja V+ here.
