In an attempt to help those affected by the coronavirus crisis, Sony has established a global relief fund of $100 million USD. The company has issued a statement regarding the fund, saying that it’s aimed to support those around the world affected by the COVID-19 virus.
Kenichiro Yoshida, President and CEO, Sony Corporation, said in the statement:
According to Sony, there are three major groups who will receive help through this fund. They include frontline medical staff fighting the virus, children and educators working remotely during the pandemic, and creatives in the entertainment industry who have been severely hit by the current situation. In the press release, Sony provides more detail on how the funds will be distributed. In addition to the fund, Sony also announced that employees will be able to provide their support through a matching gift program that is scheduled to be offered to approximately 110,000 company’s employees worldwide.
