The coronavirus outbreak caused some delays in production, but now Canon EOS R5 launch is getting closer. Judging from a recently leaked information, it will be quite expensive with the price of around $6,700.
Digital Camera World reports that the price leaked from an Australian retailer. This “mirrorless 5D equivalent” was reportedly priced at the $10,499 AUD. When converted, it’s $6,748 USD or £5,543. The EOS R5 is listed on B&H, but there’s still no price tag for the US. However, retailer usually don’t announce the prices until they get it from the manufacturer. Therefore, I guess that we can expect something around this number.
There have been different information regarding the release of the Canon EOS R5. As I mentioned, the COVID-19 pandemic caused some delays, which left Canon with two options. One: to launch the cameras as planned this summer, but in limited quantities. Or two: to postpone the launch until October 2020, but release it in higher quantity. Judging from the latest report, the company opted for the first option. It seems that the EOS R5 will be launched this June and this is when we’ll hopefully know more. [via Digital Camera World]
