The lovely folks behind this contest have a great way to inspire you to join them. They shared with DIYP some previously unseen photos from the 2021 contest that will inspire you to either go out shooting or search your archive for some hilarious images. Or if nothing else – they will make your day brighter, and we sure all need this at the end of the workweek.
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards have been around for seven years now (boy does time fly! Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE and Tom Sullam co-founded it in 2015 with the goal of making people smile while promoting the conservation of wildlife and their habitats through a humorous and positive message. If you ask me, they’ve certainly been doing a great job.
Ever since its founding, the competition has supported different sustainable conservation organizations. In 2022, Comedy Wildlife teams up with Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN), a UK charity that supports conservation leaders working in their home countries across the Global South. Over 29, years it has channeled £19 million to more than 200 conservationists in 80 countries. If you decide to submit your images, here are the categories you can submit to:

As always, the competition is open to the public and free for anyone to enter, and the winner gets some amazing prizes. They include a safari in the Maasai Mara in Kenya with Alex Walker’s Serian, a handmade trophy from The Wonder Workshop in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and the title of 2022 Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
