Fuji are finally starting to see some flash love recently. Earlier this year Godox updated their X1T triggers to add Fuji support (amongst others), and just yesterday, Adorama put the Fuji (and Sony) versions of the new XPro up for pre-order (no news on when they’ll ship, though). Now, Broncolor are getting in on the Fuji action, with their X1T lookalike, the new RFS 2.2F transceiver.
The Broncolor RFS 2.2F transmitter allows Fuji photographers to take advantage of Broncolor’s HS technology, offering shutter speeds all the way up to 1/8000th of a second. It’s compatible with Broncolor’s Siros and Move product lines, and is also backwards compatible with the Scoro and Senso RFS 2 protocol. It offers a range of up to 300ft with both flash and modelling light control for up to 99 channels with 40 lamps per group (now that would be an insane lighting setup!). As the appearance suggests, it was designed in collaboration with Godox, keeping with the X1T style design. While they may look quite similar, the firmware contained within the unit is very different. So, don’t think that they’ll be compatible. The Broncolor trigger will not fire Godox lights, or vice versa. Fuji GFX 50S medium format shooters will likely be especially pleased with this announcement, given the very slow 1/125th sync speed. They’re not showing up in the usual places yet. But with the price of the current Nikon, Canon and Sony models at $112.70, it’s likely that it’ll be the same price. Pre-orders should start popping up any moment, with delivery starting toward the end of the month.
