The iPhone Photography Awards (IPPAWARDS) has announced the winners of its 2022 contest. Believe it or not, the contest is celebrating its jubilee this year: it’s been 15 years since it’s been around, just like the iPhones. I feel kinda old now. Anyhow, the 15th annual competition received thousands of submissions from all over the world, and it has selected the best of the best. Antonio Denti from Italy won the Grand Prize, but there are many other stunning photos among the category winners. So, let’s check them out!
Antonio Denti was pronounced the overall Photographer of the Year for his image The Kid of Mosul. It shows a “moment of tenderness in the dusty rubble of war.” In addition, many of this year’s winning shots depict human connection in various forms. I guess all of us have been fed up with isolation, illnesses, and wars.
The First Place Photographer of the Year Award goes to Rachel Seda from Sweden for her image Anti-Social Distancing. This interesting image turns masking up into an act of theater. The Second Place prize is for Kelly Dallas from the US and his image Girl with the Violin. And the Third Place Photographer of the Year Award goes to Glenn Homann from Australia for his photo, Wasted. Top-three winners in an additional 16 categories were awarded to photographers from almost every corner of the world. But other than shooting with an iPhone, they have one more thing in common: they all captured thought-provoking moments in their photos.
